Dreamgate: A Temple of the Human Spirit

Dreamgate is a vision for a permanent sanctuary dedicated to The Space Series—Secular Gods Ennobling and Uplifting Humanity. It celebrates and furthers the 40,000-year history of figurative art as a fundamental catalyst of human cognition and potential.

The Space Series begun in 2022 (each painting is 64×48″, oil on linen, with its theme that the shadowed self as transparent and the stuff of the universe, while it is the light that defines them/us) in 2026 it approaches its eighteenth of twenty-four paintings over four years of work. This comes after five and a half decades and more than 1,800 works, painted on my own initiative out of love. 

Across the history of art, the creation of an epic cycle of paintings is an exceptionally rare undertaking. Of those, from historical-religious-propaganda cycles like Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel ceiling or Rubens' Marie de' Medici cycle to Alphonse Mucha's ethno-nationalistic The Slav Epic, all required external institutional or patron support to come about.

That puts the Space Series in an even rarer framing.
